I know this is irrelevant in a way but see it from a different angle for one moment. There is no other forum where you can get any information about these H1 employers who are playing games using retrogression. This is the only forum where most of the people on H1 are related to some desi consulting company and can share their experiences which would help other people who are in huge pain due to the unfair practices of their existing employers.
I would recommend the administrators to create a separate area on this forum where people can share these experiences and find genuine employers.

Hello,
My H1B was approved 3 weeks back i.e on July 1st and also received approval notice from USCIS on July 5th in USPS mail
But today I have received the status change from Approved to Document mailed from USCIS online system
Application Type: I129 , PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER
Current Status: DOCUMENT OTHER THAN CARD OR TRAVEL DOCUMENT MAILED TO APPLICANT
On July 21, 2009, your document I129, PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER was processed and mailed to the address on record. If you have not received it within 30 days of July 21, 2009, contact our customer service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move while your case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your address.
what does it mean ?

The USCIS system if often messed up, as long as you have received your approval you are good to work on H-1. In rare cases they may decide to send an notice to revoke after they approve the case since they have overlooked something. I would not worry until i actually get such a notice, also you can have your employer call national customer service to make sure everything is okay with your approval.

I believe you should be okay if you were not employed during that period. Remember the green card is for future employment.
But for the best advice check with an Attorney before you proceed to the interview and be prepared for questions regarding the gap.

I just noticed on USCIS website that all 4 of our family's I-485 (myself, wife, 2 children) have new LUD of 4/1/2009.
The message still says "case received and pending" on all cases.
I wonder what it means?

It is illegal to overstay on a visitors visa, for that matter it is illegal to stay on any expired visa.
I don't think it is illegal to stay beyond your I-94 expiration date, if you already file for an extention or change of status.
Generally lawyers advise not to travel, when h1 or h4 application is pending. as your H-4 approval will come with another (new) I-94 attached to it.
So best thing check with your spouse's lawyer.

BTW, its PPD test and I know quite a few people of Indian origin who had to go for the X-ray. Follow some of the other threads on this forum as well.
You are little too quick my friend, I did not complete my post by the time you replied. I wasn't sure that others can see my post while I was still creating (typing) my poll.
I am trying to get a sense of how many people are getting positive reaction. I am hoping this thread might give exposure about people harassed by uninformed or under informed civil surgeons/ health dept officials about the impact of BCG on PDP test. I see different interpretation of test results.

* Zero-tolerance for the employment of individuals who do not provide the proper identity and employment eligibility documents for Form I-9;
* A tickler system for I-9s that require reverification;

* Regularly scheduled in-house I-9 audits.
Conducting self-audits puts a company in better position if it becomes the subject of an ICE investigation. While employers cannot verify whether documents used for employment authorization are authentic, self-audits establish good-faith compliance.

Hello i am running in to issues of how to get address changed. To give you guys previews. We were residing in Chicago till July ending. In August we moved to CT as my wife got a new job there. But since my work location is in IL , I requested my employer whether its possible to work remotely and its ok by law. He said u can change ur residential address and there is no need to amend LCa/H1b as there is no change in work location in my case. Fine for now.
I recently visited CT DMV and requested for CT state license. They denied to me saying that i need a CT employer letter or My employer should issue letter to DMV stating my work location changed. Neither of these are going to happen. For now i have my license and Plate from IL itself. I can still continue to maintain but renewing Plates and Pollution test are pain being in CT any ideas please ?

Hi All,
I have received a information regarding my EB2 (PD Jan 15 2005)Approval from my old company( Here all the fees are being met by me).I had left that company last year trying to pursue my carrier.
New company has given me an approved labour for EB3 OCt 2004 and I140 is approved.
I would like to know from experinced guys , as to what should I be doing, should I resign from new company and join back the old one?
As GC is for future employment, can i apply for I140 throgh my old company and join them back in I485 Stage?
When can we expect EB2 PD of Jan 2005 to be current.
I would appreciate your responses.

Do not expect anything, no one can tell you a specific range of dates when the priority of a Labor be current. You can join the old emp and use this priority date from the current emp of Oct 2004 to the one with PD Jan 15th 2005.
The priority date is based on a person so you can carry it anywhere only after a I-140 is approved for that labor.
So -- You at the old company can have priority date of Oct 2004.

Employer needs to stop smoking weed and concentrate on work. Jokes apart there was no such proposal ever in pipeline so there is no way anything like this ever was approved. 6 year limit on H1 is a law that cannot be changed by admin process. It needs to pass house & senate. Also 6 year limit makes lot of people go back to home countries and uncle sam can consume their SS & Medicare taxes.
