Canada needs a transit visa even if you have a US visa stamped on yr passport. This applies even if you're staying inside the airport and not going through Canadian Immigration.

I have an approved H1B for teaching Maths, but I got an offer for teaching ESL (I am certified in both the subject). Am I allowed to teach ESL also? Is the visa subject specific?

What title they used in your labor certification? Did they explicitly mentioned as MATHS in LCA?
Unless and until you are working in the same professional, as the one filed in your LCA, you should be good. Suppose if they filed for a teacher and you are working as a programmer, then it becomes the technical violation of your LCA.
Though you want to teach ESL, as you are still teaching some thing, it should be good.

This is not true.. First time H4 when the dependant is on in US will NOT have I797. They just go to consulate with spouse's H1B to get H4 Stamped. I-797 for H4 will be received when H4 is extended with H1 here in US. That is what we also have and I have done 3 extensions/stamping for H1/H4 already with no issues
You said she got a H4 stamp when she first came to the US based on your H1B. That could not be true. She must had a I-797 approval notice of her H4.

Attended 485 Interview yesterday, everything went fine, the office told me that they need 120 days to review the file and will inform the decision after that. For me it looks like he basically collected all the documentation from me and will forward them to the Supervisor.

I have a new job offer and the employer is willing to sponsor my GC in EB2 category. The job requires BS+5 years experience which I have.
Question: If the old employer revokes my I-140 before the new employer files new PERM and I-140 under EB2 category, can I still port my EB3 priority date to EB2?

Attorney General Eric Holder today withdrew the decision issued by former Attorney General Mukasey on the last day of the Bush Administration, which had eviscerated the right to effective representation in Immigration Court proceedings. Attorney General Holder had stated during his confirmation process that he would review the Mukasey decision and that he disagreed with its reasoning. Sure can! See the tracker. There is at least one person who filed in Texas and has his/her EAD approval date before the Finger Printing date
I also had got my EAD way before my 1st FP - but that was in 2005

Hello, I have read about the 485 180 days rule and how one can use AC21 after 180 days have elapsed. But if one loses their job a 2 mths before the 180 days are over, is there a possibility of continuing the 485?
- Can one be unemployed and just wait out the 180 days before invoking AC21?
- Can one transfer to another employer on H1 (but let USCIS know after 180 days have elapsed)?

A person who has accrued 180 days of unlawful presence and then travels abroad would not be readmitted to the U.S. for 3 years. Since 2000, the AP contains a specific warning about the 3-year and 10-year bars. Individuals should seek attorney advice before travel if there is a possibility that they have accrued unlawful presence at any time.

I would recomend you talk with Shela Murthy or Carl Shusterman, talk to the main lawyer directly, do not talk with the junior lawyer in the firm. Ask for urgent appointment, it would cost a bit more but it is worth it. I am sure Shela Murthy will find some way for you.
