a cool key combo i accadentially discovered not to long ago is the command + ~ this will cycle through the open windows of the current program. so if you have 3 windows in safari open it will only cycle through them and not go to another program.
Actually its the ` not ~, since ~ would require the Shift key :D
Here's a bunch more you can accidently discover too ;)

I wonder if cuda would run on the 9400? graphics chip? that would help get some extra ppd. Too bad you can't change graphics boards in that monster iMac, it seems like it could use faster graphics for that large monitor.
yeah i know. a better video card option would be nice
I've been doing nothing but GPU folding even with a Q6600 or Core i5 750. :(
what card do you have?
I predict 45 mins per frame, 15k PPD.
but wouldn't 45 min a frame take about 3.125 days to complete, plus the upload time, so about 3.15 days? wouldn't you still get a bonus for that?

Just saying, this advice is incorrect. The first version was simply capturing the return value from the function. The second is discarding the return value. Both are calling the function.
Sorry to disagree... the script didn't work until the mail function was called directly.. maybe you should try running the code first---

Maybe you can add this 2.7 PowerMac (http://baltimore.craigslist.org/sys/115250396.html) for the ultimate system.

Think summer, late summer perhaps, according to Nikon rumor sites. It ought to be really good, really expensive. Look at the price of new FF-capable lenses.
I'll bet it is a big step up from what is out there now. It really has to be because the new DX cameras are very capable and today's FF cameras only offer improvements over them in limited situations.
I'm waiting for a really good EVIL cameral myself.

What a sweet deal! I would love to buy a second one as a backup simply because it's such a great price, but I don't want to be greedy. I don't imagine these will last too long.

Don't worry about Apple techies insisting that the new one is better... the fact is that no test has shown with any authority which is better.
I also suspect that a lot of die-hard Macheads are currently in the process of brainwashing themselves to worship the DDR PM's in order to maintain the "Apple rocks" world view.
I say that the DDR PM's are OK but not very exciting. Performance is not the primary advantage of the new PM's; I'd say it's mostly RAM and disk capacity.

4 pin = 400 FW no power - used on DV video cameras
6 pin = 400 FW with power - HD's, scanners, etc
9 pin = 800 FW with power
The great thing about firewire... no processor power is used, unlike USB that uses the processor.I've always heard the 6pin variant referred to as FW600 while FW400 was reserved only for the mini 4pin which doesn't have power. I realize it may not be technically correct but it's always allowed easier differentiation between the two connectors.

I just got the iPhone 4 for Verizon and I usually would let my phone die all the way and then charge it for 12 hours to get it completely charged. Is it the same for the iPhone 4 or does it not matter? If it does matter is it longer than 12 hours? Also, can leaving your phone plugged in when it is fully charged hurt it? Thanks!
Just charge it freely. Most mobile phones now use lithium batteries as power supply. So you are not necessary to overcharge it at all. Don't worry that it will do some harm to your battery.

a friend asked me to post this.
What he needs to do is have photoshop open up a text file that contains lines of file names, eg 2039-299434322.jpeg and have it create and save dummy files out of those filenames in a certain folder.
From what i gathered the purpose is to have the files ready so he can then find the ones he wants to put stuff into and edit them.
He wants to script this because there will be lots of files to create.
Any thoughts/ideas?

Agreed! These apps are ineffective in removing all files/folders related to a deleted app. The only effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
Best way to FULLY DELETE a program (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)
Nice link for deleting apps, worked a treat. Thanks

Hi everyone, I want to try out taiko drum composition on my MacBook Pro. However, I have some questions...well, many questions, actually.
1. This might be a stupid question, but does GarageBand allow me to compose music "from scratch"?
2. What's the difference between GarageBand and Logic Pro?
3. Do I need a keyboard or whatever in order to start composing on Mac?
4. Currently I only have GarageBand (which comes bundled within iLife). I did a search on Google and apparently GarageBand Jam Pack 4 comes with percussion which includes taiko drums. I haven't been able to find any reviews or videos on this, so could anyone tell me how good it is?
(Many things to consider before I decide to commit to getting Jam Pack 4/Logic Pro or whatever...)
