I recently changed my job, after getting a receipt from new employer. But I noticed that the attorney has done a typo in my middle name. she added 1 extra letter in the middle. can anyone please let me know if this would create any problem for me getting the H1B transfer approval and what is the way to correct it? Since I have already left my old job, I am kind of worried. Please reply back if anyone has come accross or aware of such case.

Hi All,
Is there a fee for filing a renew advance parole document for a application based on a I-485 filed after July 2007.
I know that there is no fee for I-765 renewal, but , there is a conflict for I-131 based on the following info:
1.

Their initial response indicated that a fee waiver may be applied to the I-131 (Application for Travel Document) if the I-485, I-765, and I-131 were filed concurrently after July 30, 2007 and the fee waiver application was granted on the I-485.
Upon review of the applicable law they now note that the I-131 is not actually eligible for a fee waiver at any time. The legal basis for this reasoning can be found in controlling language at 8 CFR 103.7(b) provides that "... no additional fee will be charged for a request for travel document (advance parole) or employment authorization filed by an applicant who has paid the Form I-485 application fee..."

Its a shame that they still promote the 50,000 GC visas for the so called "diversity" program. And yet don't care about the 100's of thousands folks who are legally here and aspiring to assimilate with the American society and paying huge taxes (H1's do pa more taxes then citizens).

I came to know about IV, 2 weeks ago when I heard of the flower campaign from my friend . We are very fortunate to have IV with us and thousands of users in IV helping each other.
I am sure with out IV initiative , it would have been very hard to achieve what we got now. I have changed jobs using EAD after 1.5 years of filing I-485. Can I file for a new Eb-2 case with my new employer and port the priority date of my EB-3 case ? Thanks.
Sure you can, as long as your new job requires a Masters or Bachelors + 5 yrs of experience and your employer is willing to start the process, you can do it. Being on EAD or H1 doesn't stop you from porting your PD.

After the stab at Sony that Canon made in the press release stating they were releasing ~ 20 cameras this year, you don't think they'd let Sony get that far ahead, do you? :p
In my opinion, one of the more intriguing product announcements from Nikon today was the Coolpix 8700. If it improves significantly from the Sony, that could be a killer product. Right now, Canon is lacking a bit in the true consumer DSLR market. But then again, PMA is right around the corner. Since your spouse is working, You can look for consulting position in east coast ,get the project and file for H1 ,file for green card simultaneosuly assuming your 5th year completes by November 2010 (not 6th year, you mentioned H1 valid until November 2010). You still have 6 full months time.

HI,
I recently booked an appointment for visiting visa for my parents through vfs, during the process , I first entered my Dad's details and then his ds 156, then It asked if I wanted to add additional family members, then I entered my Mom's details and her ds 156 . After that it asked for my Mom's ds 157 and never showed my Dad's ds 157.
So the final list of documents it generated was :
Dad's ds 156, Mom's ds 156,157 , interview letter.
Is this correct, does my dad need ds 157 and interview letter or is 1 ds 157 and interview letter enough ?

Dear Friends,
I finally got my RIR/EB-3 approved. My lawyer just mailed out EB-3/I-140. Now, our parent company is trying to transfer me there to work for them. Because the parent company has totally different name and tax id, that means I will need to start from H1B-PERM-I140 all over again.
If I start working for the parent company before the current EB-3/I-140 gets approved, will I still be able to use its Priority Date when I apply for the new EB-2/I-140 under parentcompany? What if the parent company decide to close down my current company before EB-3/I-140 gets approved, will that I-140 still be valid?
Any input is welcome and appreciated.

When last time I applied it used to start with EAC-xxx.

1. I am goin to file for my spouse at that time. Is it necessary that the dates should be current in order to file this amendement?
2. I understand that one can file amendment before or within 180 days of acceptance of 485. is this correct ?
3. Is there anyway to know that I am nearing my acceptance of 485?

They are increasing the fees only for the other apllications. I-485 and the related ones will maintain the same fees until August 17th. I think it says so on the announcement from USCIs.

My case is similar too, my husband filed 485 for both of us on 29th June, we both have H1b. But on June 15th one H1b transfer was filed for me (dependent in 485) which was confirmed to us on June 22nd and I joined new company on June 26th.
But the whole transfer thing is not mentioned in 485 because we were not aware at time of filling forms (june 18th).
Is this going to create problem? do we need to send update/form to USCIS about this?
you dont need to do anything. they can track the changes based on I-94 sent for transfer.
In fact if you id COS to H4 then that too would have been okay.

I have a wedding in Canada in January 2011. I would like to know if I need an Advance Parole to Canada then re-enter? Somehow I read somewhere about Canada and Mexico have different requirements.

Yes, you WILL need AP. DO NOT leave without an APPROVED AP in hand, to Canada, as that will make your GC application deemed abandoned. Repeat, you need an APPROVED AP in hand, before you depart for Canada.
